Zach Johnson stated that his objective for the 2023 Ryder Cup is to make the Players comfortable
The island of St. Simon Zach Johnson will captain the United States in the Ryder Cup in 2023, but it’s too early to pass judgment on his personality. The competition will take place in Italy.
People frequently assess the fairness of something based on whether the captain’s team wins or loses.
Davis Love III, on the other hand, dropped a hint.
“He’s a long way ahead,” says Love. People can now see him standing there.
In the year leading up to the matches, the captain and his wife are in command of every element of the Ryder Cup. Clothing, golf bags, practice rounds, travel, business meetings with sponsors, and meetings with the PGA of America are all included.
Johnson has been a resident of St. Simons Island since 2006, and he adores it. The Cup means a lot to me.
The captain is also responsible for ensuring that everyone on the 12-person squad is prepared for the tournament. This way, they can all concentrate on golf rather than soap operas.
“I can’t handle drama,” Johnson remarked during a press conference at the Sea Island Club, which is hosting the RSM Classic this week. “Not everything is simple, feasible, or beneficial. First. I’m hoping that the lads can get through the most difficult week without incident.”
Love and Steve Stricker, who will captain the team in 2021, have won two of the previous three Ryder Cups. This ended Europe’s six-year reign over the Ryder Cup.
Johnson must win even when he is not at home. The Americans defeated the English at The Belfry in 1993. Europe defeated France six times in a row and never lost.
Johnson will almost certainly deploy the same superstar lineup that won at Whistling Straits in 2021.
Johnson stated that what Love and Stricker achieved demonstrated the value of the PGA of America’s “Task Force” for the Ryder Cup. This group was formed when Tom Watson’s side was defeated by Europe in 2014. Nobody can make him change.
Zach Johnson plays the eleventh hole on the Players Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass in 2022. He has 12 PGA Tour victories, including two majors.
Johnson’s most recent Tour Championship victory came in 2015, when he took home the British Open at St. Andrews. On the opening day of the season, this was his second start.
He reasoned that missing two fall events was a good thing. “It is an extremely large number in this scenario. I need to improve my skills.”
By competing on the PGA Tour, he may keep in touch with potential team members and even compete against them in matches and on the practice green.
When the tournament begins, Johnson will be the youngest Ryder Cup captain since Tom Lehman in 2006.
